The GT Neo2 is now official as Realme's latest 120Hz AMOLED display smartphone. The Android 11 device is by a powered by a high-end Snapdragon processor and up to 12GB of RAM. The OEM has packed this latest iteration of a gaming-focused series with heat-management options touted to include "diamond" thermal paste.

Realme has unveiled the GT Neo2 today (September 22, 2021). The device is attention-grabbing enough with its new Black Mint colorway, although the OEM has now also revealed that fans who would prefer less branding on their new rear panels have simpler black or blue-yellow gradient options as well.

They all come with a 6.6-inch FHD+ display made of nearly-top-end E4 AMOLED material, driven by a Snapdragon 870 SoC. Despite its sub-flagship nature, Realme has chosen the new GT variant in which it runs to debut its latest developments in thermal management.

It consists of thermal paste, which, while nothing new to smartphones at this stage, is apparently the first such layer of a mobile system enhanced with diamonds. Then again, these are (kind of obviously) of an industrial nature, and are present in the GT Neo2 as particles of 50 micrometers (μm) in diameter at most.

Nevertheless, Realme asserts that they bring the thermal conductivity attributes of their top-end molecular make-up to the GT Neo2. Accordingly, the paste is rated to dissipate heat by 50% to 60% compared to standard pastes. It is joined by more of the same from the GT line-up until now, graphene layer and a vapor-chamber (covering 4,129 square millimeters of surface area within the phone this time around) included.

The whole system is expected to work up to 20% better compared to that of the first-gen Neo, and to reduce temperatures by a total of 18° Celsius (C). It will be cooling between 6GB and 12GB of RAM in its successor, the former of which is only available in the new Black Mint colorway, and might also kick in while the GT Neo2 charges its 5,000mAh battery at the OEM's high-end 65W rate.

They start with 128GB of internal storage and at 2,399 yuan (~US$371), and are available during Realme's first flash-sale event for the device, slated to begin on September 27, 2021.
