High school girls’ tennis: Warwick beats Kingston in battle of unbeatens

KINGSTON, N.Y. — Warwick High School won the battle of undefeated girls’ tennis teams Wednesday, handing Kingston its first loss, a 5-2 decision in Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association play.

The Tigers fell to 3-1 on the year, while Warwick improved its record to 7-0.

Lila Freeman and Iris Laves produced the only wins for Kingston. Freeman downed Sammy Kelvin 6-1, 6-0 at first singles, while Laves survived a tough first set to defeat Bianca Crest 7-5, 6-2 at fourth singles.

Kingston is back in action on Friday, Sept. 24, playing host to Pine Bush at 4 p.m.
