High school girls’ soccer roundup: Red Hook shuts out Rondout Valley

KYSERIKE, N.Y. — Kaitlin Murphy’s second-half goal was the difference for the Red Hook High School girls’ soccer team Wednesday as it remained undefeated with a 1-0 triumph over Rondout Valley.

The game winner in the Mid-Hudson Athletic League match came at the 64th minute, when Murphy punched in Katie Boyd’s crossing pass.

Red Hook goalkeeper Morgan Tompkins, celebrating her birthday, earned the shutout by making four saves.

Jill Creegan kept the match tight throughout for Rondout, stopping 11 shots.

New Paltz 2, Wallkill 0

At New Paltz, the Huguenots (3-0 MHAL, 4-2 overall) took the lead on Nyah Cunniff’s one-touch 20-yard shot off Addison MacDonald at the 23rd minute. They added insurance with 10 minutes left when Fiona O’Hara dribbled through the defense and got the ball to Kelly Hansen for her first varsity goal.

Vivian Kay made eight saves for New Paltz. Wallkill keeper Madelyn Tachimiak had 11.

Mount Academy 4, Dover 4

At Esopus, Mount Academy improved its record to 6-0-1 with Kayley Huleatt scoring three goals, Brooke Huleatt adding a goal and two assists, and Frida Mommsen also assisting.

Shayna Kaiser made 11 saves for the Eagles, while Keziah Samuel had to stop 25 shots for Dover (4-5).

Saugerties 3, Roosevelt 2

At Saugerties, Savannah Scarpa-Meade’s 18-yard shot with a minute left in regulation lifted the Sawyers over Roosevelt.

Makenzie Below had two goals, assisted by Ashlynn DeRonda and Renee Baldwin, for the Sawyers (1-1-1 MHAL, 1-2-2 overall).

Alison Desmond and Marla Volino both scored, and Celeste Gorres and Hannah Card assisted for Roosevelt.

Gabby DeSantis stopped seven shots for the Sawyers. Roosevelt’s Cali Delaware made eight saves.

Ellenville 3, Rhinebeck 1

At Ellenville, the Lady Devils rallied from an early 1-0 deficit to beat Rhinebeck.

Sydney Franza scored all three goals for Ellenville (2-2). Jessica McHugh had two saves and Julia Connor one.

Vanessa Codacovi scored at the sixth minute for Rhinebeck off a Margaret Weld pass.

Ellenville keeper Gabby Hind had four saves.

Spackenkill 7, Webutuck 0

At Poughkeepsie, Madison Updike had three goals and two assists and Kara Kilpert scored twice and distributed four assists to lead Spackenkill.

Sophia Maslyn and Mikalya Stout both scored, and Raelin Barrnet had an assist for the Spartans.

Claire Sottile and Emily Matragrano shared the shutout in goal, combining for eight saves.
