Watch Rolling Stones Play First Show After Charlie Watts Death

The Rolling Stones recently played their first show without longtime drummer Charlie Watts who joined them in January 1963. It took place at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts – a private event organized by New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft. It served as the unofficial debut of the band’s new touring drummer Steve Jordan, and they powered through a 14-song set.

“It’s a bit of a poignant night for us,” frontman Mick Jagger told the crow. “This is our first tour in 59 years that we’ve done without our lovely Charlie Watts. We all miss Charlie so much. We miss him as a band. We miss him as friends, on and off the stage.”

“We’ve got so many memories of Charlie,” he continued. “I’m sure some of you that have seen us before have got memories of Charlie as well. I hope you’ll remember him like we do. We’d like to dedicate this show to Charlie.”

This was the Stones’ warmup gig before they resume with the 2021 leg of their No Filter Tour at the Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
