Hollyoaks has introduced a potential new love interest for Sid Sumner as he continues to explore the dating game.

Wednesday's E4 first look episode (September 22) saw Sid enjoy a flirtatious encounter with a mysterious girl called Serena, who initially introduced herself as Galaxy.

Viewers have seen Sid (Billy Price) face another difficult week following the bad news that his application to join the police was unsuccessful.

In the show's latest episode, Sid woke up with a hangover after spending the previous evening drowning his sorrows following this setback.

Sid only had hazy memories of the night before and was left with a mystery to solve as his prosthetic leg was nowhere to be seen.

Fortunately, Sid soon received a message from Galaxy (Emma Lau) after meeting her the night before.

Galaxy arrived with Sid's leg – and some embarrassing stories of his recent drunken behaviour, which he could barely remember.

As Galaxy was full of compliments over Sid's looks, she helped to boost his confidence over his attempts to find a girlfriend. Sid has often doubted himself over relationships since having part of his leg amputated following an accident last year.

Galaxy also admitted to misleading Sid when they'd been chatting the night before.

Although Galaxy had claimed to be a "famous musician from China with millions of followers", she had to confess that she merely competes in karaoke competitions: "And the furthest east I've been is Grimsby."

Later, Galaxy headed back out of the village and wished Sid luck with his dating, but they both agreed to meet each other again next time she was in town.

While leaving, Galaxy took a phone call and revealed that her real name is Serena.

Could we see her in the village again?

Hollyoaks airs new episodes from Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look screenings at 7pm on E4. Selected omnibus episodes are available via Amazon Prime Video.
