UPDATE 10:00 P.M.:
Cal Fire now reports that the Fawn Fire has reached 60 acres with no containment as activity continues into the night.
Public Information Officer Cheryl Buliavac reports that the fire reached the ridge when night came which did help crews slightly with the fire fight.

A new fire that broke out near Mountain Gate Wednesday evening has burned at least 50 acres and is zero percent contained.
What's being called the Fawn Fire is burning in timber near Fawndale Road and Radcliff Road. That's near the quarry which is located east of Interstate 5.
Firefighters are having difficulty accessing the fire and are hiking into the area. The Fawn Fire is being aggressively attacked from the air, according to Cal Fire.
A large smoke plume is visible from the City of Shasta Lake and across the Redding area.
