Ocean Springs Mayor’s Youth Council preparing care packages for Hurricane Ida relief

The Ocean Springs Mayor’s Youth Council is giving back to our Louisiana neighbors.

The Mayor’s Youth Council is hosting a Hurricane Ida care package drive. The council is made up of juniors and seniors from Ocean Springs High School. Together they decided to collect unused personal hygiene products, socks, shoes, snacks and nonperishable food items to donate to those in need.

The care packages will be delivered to Cut Off, Louisiana at the end of October. OS Mayor’s Youth Council Advisor Meggan Switzer said, “We were thinking we’ll combine all of these products kind of together and give each package to a family. We know the initial push for hurricane relief items came super strong. There were tons of people giving donations, but now it is kind of tapered off a little bit. So, we were hoping to give them another push of items at the end of October.”

To help support, you can bring donations to Ocean Springs City Hall from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday until October 22nd.
