Brandon Lindsey has stepped down as head coach of the Johnson High School girls basketball team.
Lindsey, who helped turn the Lady Atom Smashers into a state power, will remain athletic director at the school.
"I always wanted to leave a program in a better place than when I started," said Lindsey.
The Johnson High program is certainly in a better place.
Lindsey guided the Atom Smashers to back-to-back GHSA Class AAA state championships in 2018 and 2019.
Johnson High won a Region 3-AAA title and advanced to the third round of the state tournament last season.
Assistant coach E'Lona Levett will lead Johnson High during the 2021-2022 campaign. She returns a solid group of players, including All-Region and All-Greater Savannah selections in Amani Hamilton and K'Lya Hankerson.
