We just got our first look at the actor behind one of The Walking Dead's creepiest characters going in a totally new direction to Save The Cinema in the upcoming Sky movie, set for release early next year.

Samantha Morton appears in a brand new first-look snap at the film, which shows her looking a whole lot different than The Walking Dead fans will remember her. The star played the bald-headed Alpha, leader of The Whisperers, from 2019 to 2020.

The photo shows the actor as Liz Evans, a real-life woman who campaigned to stop The Lyric Theatre in Carmarthen, Wales from closing down.

Save The Cinema is inspired by what really happened back in 1993 and also stars a number of other familiar faces, including Harry Potter's Tom Felton, Game of Thrones and The Crown star Jonathan Pryce, The Night Manager's Adeel Akhtar, Enola Holmes star Susan Wokoma, and comedian Rhod Gilbert.

Evans is described as being a "tenacious hairdresser" who would stop at nothing to save the cinema, as the small Welsh village was "inspired by the magic of cinema" and brought "Tinseltown to their doorstep".

As some may remember, Evans actually gathered together a group of local people who barricaded themselves in the theatre to stop it from being bulldozed to make way for a shopping centre.

In the retelling, Morton's character will reach out to Felton's Richard, a postman-turned-councillor, to make a plan: write to Hollywood and ask for help. But will anyone listen and will they be able to save their beloved building?

Spoiler alert! In real life, the kind-hearted Hollywood star who gave The Lyric Theatre its big break was actually none other than Steven Spielberg. The world-famous director agreed to have the big premiere for a little known movie called Jurassic Park in the teenie Welsh town after receiving Richard's plea.

As for what happens in the movie version? Well, we'll just have to wait and see.

Save The Cinema is set to be released on Sky Cinema from January 14, 2022 and will also be available on streaming service NOW via the Sky Cinema Membership.
