Mayim Bialik continues to express her interest in taking over as the permanent host of “Jeopardy!” The game show has had a tumultuous year with hosts.
“I think it’s very clear,” Bialik recently told Glamour. “There’s no other job I would rather have. I love my sitcom work, I do. I love all the other things I do. I love the podcast. But I absolutely have never had a better job.”
Longtime, iconic host Alex Trebek passed away last November after battling pancreatic cancer. Since then, Bialik has been among a few hosts to temporarily fill in while producers searched for a permanent replacement. Among the hosts was LeVar Burton — known for his roles in “Roots” and “Star Trek” and as the host of “Reading Rainbow.”
Sony Pictures Television faced backlash after announcing executive producer Mike Richards would take over as the permanent host last month. Since then, Richards has been fired as the executive producer of both “Jeopardy!” and “Wheel of Fortune” after controversial comments and accusations of sexist behavior surfaced. Michael Davies has taken over in place of Richards in the interim.
Initially, while Richards was named the full-time host of “Jeopardy!,” Bialik was named the host of spinoff and primetime series like “Jeopardy! National College Championship.”
Since Richards had been fired, Bialik currently splits hosting duties with Ken Jennings while once again producers search for a permanent replacement. Though, she would like to be that permanent replacement of the original “Jeopardy!”
