For most Americans, whether it's making a cup of joe at home or stopping by the nearest coffee shop, having a cup of coffee in the morning is the key to having a good day.

A recent survey by the National Coffee Association found that 62% of Americans drink coffee every day, and of that 62%, the average person drinks three cups a day. Depending on where you live, the coffee scene in your area might be better than others. Luckily, WalletHub set out to find the best coffee cities in America.

To determine which cities were the friendliest to coffee-obsessed people, WalletHub looked at 100 of the largest cities in America and combed through data consisting of "12 key indicators." Some of those indicators consisted of the price of coffee drinks, affordable coffee shops, the average spending of coffee per household, the average number of households that own coffee makers, and the average Google search of the word "coffee."

So, where did one Michigan city land on the list of best cities for coffee lovers?

Detroit found itself at the bottom of the list at No. 100.

The study found that Detroit was No. 98 for the lowest average amount of money spent on coffee per household, No. 99 for the lowest percentage of coffee drinkers and No. 100 for the lowest number of households that own coffee makers.
