Frank Blake — the reputed head of the Almighty Latin King and Queen Nation gang’s Elizabeth chapter — and eight other alleged gang members were first charged with carrying out a “brutal attack” on a New Jersey State Prison inmate this past April, the New Jersey Office of Attorney General said in a press release.

That group and two other alleged gang members were charged with carrying out four additional attacks at the prison in Trenton on Tuesday, according to the attorney general’s office.

“We will not tolerate gang-related violence in our state prisons,” Acting Attorney Andrew Bruck said in a statement. “This indictment reaffirms our commitment to ensuring the safety of both inmates and correctional officers behind prison walls.”

Prosecutors say Blake told two of the alleged gang members to attack an inmate in the prison yard at the New Jersey State Prison on Sept. 28 of last year.

The attack left the inmate with a “traumatic brain injury” and caused him to experience respiratory failure, prosecutors said.

On Oct. 18, 2019, a different gang member attacked a New Jersey State Prison inmate with a shank in the showers, leaving him with several puncture wounds, according to prosecutors.

Gang members also carried out two prison attacks in April 2020 and one this past April, prosecutors said.
