The Camillus Police Department and several other Central New York emergency crews honored Carthage High School's Freshman JV football player Tyler Christman after passing away Tuesday from a severe brain injury during Saturday's football game against West Genesee.
In a Facebook post, the Camillus Police Department wrote "God Speed Tyler."
"Camillus Police were honored to be part of the first responders from across Onondaga County that paid tribute to Tyler Christman outside West Genesee High School last night."
In the video Camillus Police, New York State Police, Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, Geddes Police, Solvay Police, Manlius Police, Dewitt Police, Fairmount Fire Department, Camillus Fire Department, Onondaga Hill FD, Taunton Fire Department, and WAVES Ambulance participated in honoring Tyler.
The emergency cars formed "T.C." which are Tyler's initials.
Tyler was only 14-years-old when he sustained a severe brain injury on West Genesee's football field Saturday during the game. He was bleeding in the frontal cortex of his brain, causing massive swelling, according to a family member. He died four days later from the injury.
The Carthage football game against Indian River will be canceled Friday in the wake of Tyler's death.
