Man arrested after choking girlfriend and barricading self in home

Police in Lauderhill are reporting that they have arrested a man who reportedly choked his girlfriend before barricading himself inside of a home.

The incident was reported at a home near the 5800 block of Northwest 19th Terrace around 10 a.m. Tuesday.

According to the report, the suspect 31-year-old Berkendy Theodoris got into an altercation with his girlfriend and  at some point grabbed her by the neck and began choking her.

When authorities arrived to the home, Theodoris locked himself inside and told police that he had two guns and two dogs.

Theodoris eventually surrendered and was taken to the Broward County Main Jail.

Authorities are investigating the incident.
