The Battle Creek VA Medical Center is scheduled to stop overnight urgent care hours starting Oct. 1.
The change is not due to funding or staffing, according to Public Affairs Officer Brian Pegouske.
Rather, the hours aren't being used as often as expected, and when people do show up, they often have to be sent to another facility anyway, Pegouske said.

Sonja Patrick, an Army veteran who utilized the Battle Creek VA's services, said the overnight hours were beneficial to veterans in the area.
"I think vets need a place to go that understand veterans versus if I have PTSD and I'm suicidal and then I need somebody to talk to at night, where would I go?” said Patrick.
Starting Oct. 1, the center's urgent care hours are expected to change to the following:
- Monday through Friday: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Saturday, Sunday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The hours aren't expected to change during federal holidays, according to a statement from officials.
The Battle Creek VA Medical Center's urgent care services are available to treat minor, non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses.
