STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Authorities allege that a 43-year-old man was caught with an envelope of heroin for each year of his life, plus a couple more, following a drug sale in Stapleton.
Ralph Alvarado of Linden Street in Livingston allegedly handed heroin to another individual on an afternoon in August, according to a criminal complaint.
Police recovered 45 glassine envelopes of heroin from Alvarado’s person in connection with the arrest, the complaint alleges.
Alvarado has been charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Alvarado has been released under supervision and is due back in Criminal Court on Dec. 2, according to public records.
Attorney Vincent David Scala said this is the first arrest for his client, Alvarado, who has entered a plea of not guilty.
“Mr. Alvarado has a spotless background and the case is being dealt with in the usual way with discussions between myself and the prosecutor,” Scala said. “Hopefully, all parties will reach an amicable resolution which serves the interests of my client and the people of the state of New York.”
