Belmont County Sheriff Dave Lucas held a brief news conference in his office to offer an update on what officials labeled the "suspicious deaths" of two people after receiving a call of a house fire in Morristown on Tuesday.
“As of now, we have classified the deceased -- Tom and Angela Strussion on Trail’s End Drive -- as being a double homicide,” Lucas said.
The Strussions owned Salsa Joe's Cafe in Morristown and Elm Grove.
The sheriff said autopsies will be done Wednesday and Thursday to determine the cause of death.
“Not only my detectives, the whole department, the state, are staying strong on it. And hopefully we’ll be able to put something together on this. But it’s definitely a double homicide," Lucas said.
“We’ll keep the community abreast of what’s going on – and the family. Our feelings and our hearts go out to the family of this tragic event. And we’re going to do everything we can to come to a resolution of what happened.”
No suspects have been named in the crime.
The sheriff's office is also asking any nearby residents that have security camera footage of Trails Run Road and U.S. 40 to contact them at (740) 695-7933.
