Man indicted on attempted murder charge in S. Clinton Ave. shooting

Rochester, N.Y. —
A man charged in a May shooting in Rochester has been indicted by a grand jury on an attempted murder charge.

Phillip Owens was also indicted on charges of assault, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminally using drug paraphernalia.
Owens was arrested in connection with a May 24 shooting on South Clinton Avenue.
Police say the victim had been shot six times, but survived the shooting.

Owens was arrested in June. Police say a search of his residence turned up an illegal gun and about six ounces of crack cocaine.
