Rays minor league team Durham Bulls have best response to Conor McGregor's wild first pitch

Maybe there's an explanation for Conor McGregor's wild first pitch after all

Did someone tell him to hit the bull?

The Twitter account of the Durham Bulls, the Tampa Bay Rays' Class AAA affiliate and titular piece of the classic baseball movie "Bull Durham," published a video Wednesday mashing the MMA fighter's errant offering at Wrigley Field with an iconic scene from the movie.

In the movie, "Crash" Davis -- played by Kevin Costner -- tells Tim Robbins' "Nuke" Laloosh to "hit the bull," the team's mascot in order to frighten the opposing hitter.

Laloosh wound up and fired it, connecting with the bull's head.

Either way, McGregor's pitch certainly wasn't a bullseye.
