Two new businesses received were warmly welcomed by Mayor Michelle Gomez and the Tamarac North Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce.
On Sept 13, the chamber held a ribbon-cutting for The Sylvia Brafman Mental Health Center, and on Sept 19. Hook and Reel Cajun Seafood.
“Both of these businesses have shown great courage and vision to invest in the future, said Peter Mason, Executive Director of the chamber. “Covid has brought many business challenges, so to open a new business at this time is exceptional.”
Hook and Reel Cajun Seafood and Bar
Located at 7562 W Commercial Blvd in Lauderhill, Hook and Reel Cajun Seafood and Bar is known for its Cajun seafood boil with their signature Hook and Reel Blend —or any other seasonings.
First opening in 2013 in Lanham, Maryland, the franchise now has 60 restaurants up and down the eastern seaboard, including Coral Springs and Pembroke Pines. Happy is from 4 pm to 7 pm on weekdays.
The Sylvia Brafman Mental Health Center

Located at 7710 NW 71st Ct in Tamarac, The Sylvia Brafman Mental Health Center offers patients treatment for mental health and substance abuse disorders.
Headed up by CEO Jaime Blaustein and Clinical Director Ben Brafman, the center is named in honor of Brafman’s late mother, Sylvia.
The center focuses primarily on mental health treatment and treats chronic anxiety, depression, bipolar, schizophrenia, alcoholism, and addiction. They also offer various programs, including a Partial Hospitalization Program, Intensive Outpatient Program, Outpatient Program, Family Program, Professionals Program, and Career Services Program.
“We’re going to do something a bit unique in terms of how we think about mental health and addiction,” said Brafman. “Clinically speaking, addiction is a mental health disorder, and we need to stop separating the two.”
Mason said Tamarac North Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce is continuing to support and promote local businesses.
