Tom Brady Sr. isn’t holding back ahead of his son’s return to Foxborough.

The elder Brady appeared on Quick Slants Tuesday night with Tom E. Curran and Meghan Ottolini, and was asked whether his son feels vindicated after leaving New England and winning another Super Bowl with the Buccaneers.

“Damn right,” Brady Sr. replied. “(Bill) Belichick wanted him out the door and last year he threw (50) touchdowns — I think that’s a pretty good year.”

He expounded upon the situation on Curran’s Patriot Talk Podcast, doubling down on the idea that Belichick was ready to turn the page to his next quarterback.

“My feeling is that Tommy is extraordinarily appreciative of everything that happened during his New England career, and he’s more than happy than that he’s moved on, because it was pretty obvious that the Patriot regime felt that it was time for him to move on,” Brady Sr. said. “And frankly it may well have been the perfect (time) for Belichick to move on from him. On the other hand, I think the Tampa Bay Bucs are pretty happy that the decision was made in Foxboro, that they (couldn’t) afford him or didn’t want to keep him when his last contract came up.”

The Buccaneers quarterback will return to Gillette Stadium on October 3 and the game will be broadcast on NBC’s Sunday Night Football.
