See Space Force’s new formal uniforms, just in time for fall

Not to be outdone by the runways of London Fashion Week, the United States Space Force debuted its service dress uniforms Tuesday with a tweet calling the new look “a modern, distinctive, professional” prototype.

The unveiling of the new line took place at the Air Force Association’s Air Space & Cyber conference in Maryland.

The jackets are ornate, including six buttons running diagonally up the right breast. “The dark ‘space blue’ jacket is a roundneck crossover design with a partial mandarin collar rather than the classic lapel blazer,” Space News wrote.

The fitted trousers are gray.

The military invited suggestions from enlisted men and women in crafting the fancy duds, which Space Force members will wear when conducting formal business or attending ceremonies and events.

Military news outlet Stars and Stripes compared the Space Force aesthetic to the “Star Trek” sci-fi franchise. Task & Purpose likened the unis to something out of “Star Wars,” calling them “Galactic Empire chic.” Military.com wrote that the outfits conjured up memories of the TV series “Battlestar Galactica.”

Space Force was established by former President Donald Trump in 2019. Its members are referred to as “Guardians.”
