'The Masked Singer': The Panelists, the Costumes, the Contestants in Season 6

The Masked Singer fans will be doubly excited tonight as the first of the special two-night premieres airs on Fox.

Season 6 of The Masked Singer is on before the new avatar-themed singing competition Alter Ego gets underway.

Sixteen acts will be competing to win the new season of The Masked Singer and follow in the footsteps of previous victors T-Pain, Wayne Brady, Kandi Burruss, LeAnn Rimes and Nick Lachey.

Nick Cannon returns to host and once again Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke will sit on the panel and try to guess who are behind the masks. In Season 6 they'll also have a new twist to help them solve the clues laid out for them.

The Clues on the Masked Singers' Identities

Fox has dropped subtle clues as to the identities of each of this season's contestants, while also bragging about the caliber of celebrity hiding beneath the masks.

There's bound to be plenty of musical talent on display in the singing competition as the contestants have a combined 85 Grammy nominations between them, with 27 wins.

In the acting category, there's plenty of good (and bad) to look out for with three Oscar nominations, 12 Emmy nominations but also 12 Razzie nominations.

Many athletes have masked up for The Masked Singer in the past and Season 6 is no different with two Super Bowl appearances among the 16 contestants.

There's plenty of wisdom and experience hiding beneath the colorful facades too as Fox said there are two Lifetime Achievement Awards amongst the group too.

The Twist on 'The Masked Singer'

This season will introduce the "Take It Off Buzzer" which may cut short someone's time on the show.

If at any point, one of the panelists thinks they are certain who is behind the mask, they can hit the "Take It Off Buzzer" and if they are right, the celebrity reveals themselves and leaves the competition. The correct panelist will also get two points towards their Golden Ear Trophy score.

However if they guess wrong, the panelist will get two points deducted from their Golden Ear Trophy score. The buzzer can only be used once in Group A and once in Group B.

Guest panelists for Season 6 were revealed by Variety. Leslie Jordan, Joel McHale, will.i.am, and Cheryl Hines will be stopping by to help the panelists guess across the season.

When Is 'The Masked Singer' On?

The Masked Singer kicks off tonight (Wednesday September 22) with the Group A premiere before continuing with the group tomorrow (Thursday September 23).

The following episodes will then air weekly on Wednesdays with Group B starting on Wednesday September 29.

The Masked Singer airs at 8pm ET on Fox.
