All of the coaches on The Voice were pleasantly surprised by a blind audition performance of Ariana Grande’s song “pov.” Gymani had enough courage to come on stage and change up a recent song by the pop star judge. The risk paid off and she earned a 4-chair turn before shockingly choosing to join Team Kelly.

Gymani Gets a Rightfully Deserved Four Chair Turn

During night two of The Voice premiere, we had our first contestant take to the stage with enough courage to sing a song by our newest coach. Gymani, a single mother of two girls, came on to the stage to sing “pov” by Ariana Grande. She really changed up the song in the best way possible too.

“It’s not mine anymore it’s hers,” said Grande after hearing Gymani’s amazing rendition of her song “pov.” “I swear to God for the rest of my life I’m going to be like oh I’m covering Gymani’s song. That’s my favorite song by her.”

Gymani premiered a version of this song that was entirely her own. When Grande sings the song, it’s light, airy, and shows off her higher register. When Gymani performs this song, she implements the deep tones in her voice and almost gives off a soul vibe. I knew John Legend was going to turn his chair for her.

All Four of the Coaches had Something to say About her Performance

Blake Shelton and Grande turned almost immediately after first hearing Gymani’s amazing voice. Soon after, Legend and Clarkson decided to turn for her as well. The argument was tight between all four coaches, except for when Grande reminded us that she was no longer on earth from how good the song was.

Clarkson used her experience on American Idol as a way to get Gymani to choose her as her coach for the season. On top of the fact that she won Idol, she also talked about how difficult it is to perform that song considering Grande has great breath control.

Out of all of the judges, Clarkson was the last to turn her chair. She was obviously surprised when Gymani chose her team jumping up and screaming with excitement. Grande was noticeably disappointed and even joined Shelton after the performance to talk strategy for next week.
