I love the dream match aspect that the Forbidden Door provides. However, even hardcore fans like me could use a video package to show the importance and famous titleholders of the Impact Tag Titles or the IWGP U.S. Championship to build interest. Also, airing a video on the style of wrestling that New Japan, Impact, and the NWA - could help contextualize their wrestling style - and reinforce the novelty aspect of an AEW wrestler taking on a non-AEW wrestler. Without providing context and reference points, why should I care about Moxley winning the IWGP U.S. Championship - if I am an AEW fan? Or why should I care that Minoru Suzuki is taking on Moxley in a one-off match?
I think that the announcers did a solid job of explaining who Suzuki was but it wouldn’t hurt to also do a video package on him. Plus, they did run the Moxley was asking New Japan for a fight storyline for a while now.
If and when NXT 2.0 falls flat, who takes the blame? It won't be billionaire Vince. He knows what the audience wants even if we don't. So is it Pritchard, the NXT 2.O talent or the WWE Universe that takes the blame?
It definitely won’t be Vince, he never takes the blame (just ask Paul Heyman about Vince’s version of ECW or even HHH about his version of NXT.
NXT 2.0 looks like an indy show with a lot more lights & some new wrestlers, sorry I mean performers, not ready for prime time. Is this the best the mighty WWE can do?
We have to be fair and give it time. We can’t make a call after a couple of shows.
Do you have any idea if this new incarnation of NXT will continue to do Takeovers or any kinds of special events?
We should know by November. That is when they next Takeover should happen, or will have happened by.
So, the new NXT set. Looks like a 1990's era Nickelodeon channel sound stage, yes?
