If people were asked what would they do if they lost their COVID-19 vaccination card, the answers would probably vary.
Bobby Brennan seemed to not be phased about it when he was asked if he knew where his vaccination card was located.
“It just sits at home in my desk. I haven’t needed to use it too much so, I think I’ll be able to hang on to it,” he said.
It’s a different story for Michelle Lange who makes a point to keep track of hers.
“I have family overseas and they’re going through their vaccination process. And they’re like, you know I have to make sure I have my card because when they go from border to border, they’re in Australia they’re like I need my documentation to travel,” she said.
T.J. Cornell of West Jordan said he has a backup plan if he lost his original vaccine card.
“What I do is take pictures of stuff because I like to lose them.”
Charla Haley, Public Information Officer for the Utah Department of Health said there’s a solution if you lose your vaccination card.
You can call the health provider where you got your vaccine and request a replacement card.
If for some reason that doesn’t work, Haley said you can check with your own doctor.
“Even though they may not be the ones who gave you the shot they will still be able to access a record of you having the shot.”
Also, you can go online and check out the Utah Statewide Immunization Information System (USIIS)
“USIIS is a database that the Utah Department of Health uses and your doctor when he gives you a vaccination will most likely always put that vaccination information into that file so it’s always there.”
Haley said to be sure to put the hard copy of your vaccine card in a safe place, where you know you will remember to look when you need it.
Don’t forget to take a picture of it with your cellphone so you’ll have a digital copy handy.
