The Braves threw a bullpen game in Tuesday's win over the Diamondbacks in an effort to set their rotation for the two biggest series of the season, at San Diego and at home against Philadelphia.

Jesse Chavez started the game and Drew Smyly ended up picking up the win after tossing 3 1/3 innings.

By pushing back the rotation a day the team accomplished two things: They not only set the rotation for the upcoming series, but also planned ahead for the re-started game with the Padres that will pick up in the bottom of the 5th inning with the Braves trailing 5-4.

The game will be picked up on Friday with the Braves as the home team before the road series properly begins.

The Braves will open the series with San Diego on Friday with Max Fried, who will also pitch the following Wednesday against the Phillies.

If the rotation stays in order, the Braves would be tossing Ian Anderson, Charlie Morton, and Max Fried in the three-game set against Philadelphia.
