A Celebration of Life will be held for Vernon Henry Frymire, Jr, 90 year old Thomas resident on Saturday, September 25, 2021 in The Bethany Brethren in Christ Church at 2:00 P.M. with Jay Frymire and James Rainwater officiating, under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.

Vernon was born June 13, 1931 to Vernon Sr. and Maime (Eyster) Frymire on the family farm near Thomas, Oklahoma. As a boy he attended Union Ridge country school, then graduated Jabbock Bible School in Thomas. On April 21, 1953 Vernon married Gracie (Bontrager) in Pueblo, Colorado. The couple worked in Colorado until 1954, when they returned to the Thomas area to begin farming. They raised a family of 3 sons and 1 daughter. Faith, family, and farming were Vernon’s top priorities and he made that evident in his daily life.

Vernon enjoyed all aspects of farming, especially checking cattle and crops, staying active with this even in his retirement years. He and his brother Don ran a dairy operation until 1974, when Vernon began a custom harvesting business. He worked hard to involve his entire family on the harvest run as they grew up and built many special friendships and customers from Texas to North Dakota and Idaho in his 22 years of custom harvesting.

In his early years, Vernon drove a school bus for Custer City schools and later served on the School Board at Corn Bible Academy, where all four children attended. He had a great interest in antique tractors and farm equipment and enjoyed restoring them and traveling to tractor shows in his later years.

Vernon accepted Christ at an early age and was an active member of Bethany Brethren In Christ Church all his life. He was involved in moving the country church to town and will be laid to rest in the country church cemetery. Vernon had a servant heart and looked for ways he could help or be of service. He taught Sunday School, Boys Brigade Clubs, served as Deacon and on the Church Board for many years. He attended several mission trips with Mennonite work groups to Haiti and Honduras and was a member of The Gideons International, helping to distribute bibles. Some of his most special time was spent as a prison ministry volunteer, where he led bible study with inmates for many years. Vernon shared a love of gospel music with his wife, Grace and they enjoyed attending many Gaither Band concerts with friends and family. Music was almost always being played in their home.

Vernon is survived by two sons, Tim Frymire and wife Johnette of Thomas, Robert Frymire and wife Annie of Thomas, one daughter Kristi Spaeth and husband Calley of Thomas; eleven grandchildren, Jay Frymire and wife Brooke, Ashley Walker and husband Brent, Elliott Maldanado, Zac Frymire and wife Jen, Stephanie Perkins and husband Aaron, Jonathan Marlow and wife Megan, Jordan Marlow and wife Nicole, Carley LeMoine and husband Ryan, Cooper Frymire, Cason Frymire, and Carter Frymire; eleven great-grandchildren; also Evelyn Frymire Hightower and husband Dennis and two sons, Kyle and Blake; six sisters-in law, one brother in law, and a host of nieces and nephews.
