Resident caught stealing, then drinking booze in the bathroom: North Royalton Police Blotter

NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio

Theft: Wallings Road

On Aug. 27, police were dispatched to Drug Mart regarding a suspect stealing alcohol and consuming it in the bathroom of the Wallings Road store.

An arriving officer located the North Royalton man as he was exiting the building. While talking to the suspect, the officer smelled booze. The man slurred his words and said he was almost home.

When told about the Drug Mart incident, the resident said he had gone to the store to buy protein powder, which they didn’t have.

The officer noticed that the man didn’t have a wallet. He was unable to explain how he planned on purchasing the powder. That’s when he was arrested for theft.

The employee said the man had been suspected of drinking beer in the bathroom for a few days. Police found an empty bottle in the bathroom. The employee said the man is no longer welcome to shop at the location.

Drunken driving: Albion Road

On Aug. 27, police were dispatched to an Albion Road home regarding a vehicle parked in the front yard.

An arriving officer located a gray Chevrolet pickup truck, which fit the description of a vehicle involved in a hit-skip accident that had taken place less than a half-hour earlier.

The driver, who had a handgun in a holster on his right hip, said he was headed home from bomb squad training in North Canton.

The officer disarmed the man, who stumbled as he walked, looked confused and slurred his speech. When asked where he was, the man didn’t know.

He also refused to take any tests. He was arrested for drunken driving and also charged with improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle.
