Aces tally record-breaking six triples in 19-4 win over Salt Lake 

RENO, Nev. – The Reno Aces legged out six triples in a 19-4 win over the Salt Lake Bees. The triple total is the most since at least 2005 – the furthest back reliable stats are available. Drew Ellis led the way with five hits, five RBIs and three doubles.

Salt Lake scored first, putting up two runs in the top of the first. Reno would quickly answer, scoring four in the bottom half.

Ellis got the scoring started for the Aces with an RBI double to score Alek Thomas and make it 2-1. Juniel Querecuto kept his hot streak going, singling to score Ellis as well as Cooper Hummel and make it a 3-2 Reno lead. Jamie Ritchie drove in the final run of the inning, singling to score Querecuto and make it 4-2.

Reno scored four more in the bbottom of the second, again starting with a double from Ellis. This time, Ellis drove in both Thomas and Hummel. Ellis came around to score on the next at bat, thanks to a home run from Andrew Young into the bullpen behind right field to make it 8-2.

The fourth inning saw another extra base hit, with Thomas tripling to lead off the inning. Hummel drove him in on a sacrifice fly, making it a 9-2 Aces lead. Ellis would follow it up with a double, then score on a Young triple making it 10-2. Young would come around to score on a sacrifice fly by Querecuto, ending the inning with an 11-2 Reno lead.

Salt Lake scored two in the top of the fifth to make it 11-4, but the Aces once again answered.

Another leadoff triple set the table for Reno, with Stuart Fairchild reaching third and scoring on a sacrifice fly by Jake Hager to make it 12-4.

In the sixth, Ellis drove in another RBI with a single to score Hummel and make it 13-4.

The Aces exploded in the seventh with five runs. Hummel tripled with the bases loaded to score Geraldo Perdomo, Hager and Thomas making it 16-4. Drew Ellis tripled to score Hummel, and then came around to score himself after a single by Young.

Reno added more on in the eighth, after yet another triple. This time it was from Fairchild, who came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Perdomo. The final run meant the Aces finished with runs in all but one inning, winning 19-4.

This wraps up the six-game series with the Bees. Reno is off tomorrow, before heading to Albuquerque on Thursday for the start of a five-game series against the Isotopes. First pitch is set for 5:35 p.m. PT, and the game can be heard on KPLY 630AM or on RenoAces.com with Zack Bayrouty on the call.
