Caleb Plant needs you to know he did connect on Canelo Alvarez in press conference fight

Caleb Plant won’t hear of the talk that he didn’t land a bit on Canelo at the presser.

Caleb Plant and Canelo Alvarez got into a bit of a scrap at Tuesday’s press conference in Beverly Hills, which you can watch here, resulting in one of the more talked-about early pressers in quite some time.

But Plant needs you to know something: Canelo did not fully slip the left hand the Tennessean threw, despite it maybe appearing that way live in the moment, and from the angles the various videos had.

Plant (23-0, 12 KO) suffered a small cut under his left eye, which he’s calling a scratch and to him it probably is nothing more than that, but he has no concerns about it affecting his preparation for the Nov. 6 undisputed super middleweight title fight.

There is clear tension between these two, and to me, this one seems legit. I’m not saying they won’t settle it in the ring and give respect after, but then again maybe not. Plant has not been shy about ripping Team Canelo and Alvarez (56-1-2, 38 KO) himself for issues with drug tests, a thing that became a big talking point again recently when Oscar Valdez failed a VADA test. And it’s pretty well-known that this bugs the hell out of Canelo.

But either way, they’ve got people talking ahead of their showdown.
