The Wednesday report from the Delaware Division of Public Health recorded Two new deaths from Covid-19, down from seven a day ago.
According to DPH, one resident each from New Castle and Sussex counties passed away. They ranged in age from their 50s to their 70s. Both had underlying health conditions, and neither was vaccinated.
The fatalities increased Delaware’s total number of COVID-related deaths to 1,929.
The other numbers:
- 270 new positive cases, bringing the overall total to 129,231. The seven-day average remains above 450. The winter peak for new cases on a seven-day basis was more than 800. The number fell below 20 in late June, before the latest surge.
- 7.6% of total tests were positive in the seven-day rolling average (up two-tenths of a percent from the previous day. Cases have been as low as 1%.
- 229 current hospitalizations, down 1 from the previous day), including 39 individuals in critical condition.
- 517,344 Delawareans are fully vaccinated, up 1,428 from the previous day.
- 1,154,938 total vaccine doses were administered, up 2,420 from the previous day.
- 59.7 percent of the state’s population is now fully vaccinated. That’s a lower percentage than in neighboring New Jersey and Maryland.
- 78% of adults in Delaware have received at least one dose of vaccine.
