The recent front-page stories regarding vaccinations were so slanted to shame and blame the unvaccinated that I am compelled to write.

Let me be clear: I am not an anti-vaxxer or whatever label is applied. I have been vaccinated many times in my life. I don’t believe COVID shots should be mandated. If you want the jab, by all means, go for it. If you don’t, then the risk is yours and yours alone.

Our country’s response to the COVID pandemic has been an unscientific embarrassment. The administration’s policy has consisted of harassing the general public, exposing the vulnerable and instilling fear into the citizenry.

The Centers for Disease Control has been the grand marshall in this parade of irrationality.

One way in which the CDC’s unscientific approach is currently on display is its refusal to acknowledge that catching COVID confers immunity to the same extent, and probably more, than being vaccinated.

In May, the World Health Organization concluded, “Current evidence points to most individuals developing strong, protective immune responses following natural infection with SARS-CoV-2.”

So why demean those that have recovered? My wife and I are nearly 70 years old. We had the COVID infection last spring and survived, as have nearly 999% of others who have had the illness. We didn’t have a mild case, but it was not quite severe enough for hospitalization.

We tested positive for antibodies this summer and see no reason to get the jab. We are not a threat to others, and you are not a threat to us. We are not uninformed.

We read the data and have several members of our immediate family working in the healthcare industry throughout the country. We are getting first-hand information and looking at raw data.

Your opinion pieces, thinly disguised as news articles, continue this narrative of fear and intimidation. Your “Other View” is from sister news organizations. It is clear that you have no self-respect and are nothing but toadies and a mouthpiece for the insidious forces at work in our county and the clown show in St. Paul and Washington.

Take your own advice and use common sense. It is not the patriotic and freedom-loving American who is the threat.
