Thirteen hundred quarantine directives have been sent out in the first two weeks of classes in the Oak Creek-Franklin School District.

More than 80 students and staff tested COVID-19 positive last week alone, and some parents want the school district to do more to fight the spread.
Barely into the new school year, and some Oak Creek-Franklin parents are already worried about what they're seeing.
"He's in kindergarten. Every day we are just waiting to get a letter saying he's been exposed or had a close contact or has been near some individual that has COVID," said Stephen Hudson, an Oak Creek-Franklin parent.
Hudson is an organizer of a petition to require quarantines for unvaccinated kids exposed to COVID-19 and mandatory masks in elementary schools.
"We're just trying to get as much protection for the people who don't have vaccine protection as possible," Hudson said.
Oak Creek High School leads the way with almost two dozen positive cases last week.
A parent with two students there said the district needs to do more to make sure students are abiding by quarantines.
"I would like them to enforce the quarantines. If a parent is utilizing the exception that the child is vaccinated, have the parent produce evidence of a vaccine. If they're going to say that my kid has been COVID tested and it's negative, have the parent produce a negative COVID test," said Michelle Jourdain, an Oak Creek-Franklin parent.
Jourdain said it's basically the honor system now.
The superintendent told WISN 12 the district "strongly encourages the use of face coverings while indoors," and encourage "vaccinations (if eligible) and quarantining when appropriate."
Jourdain said encouragement is not enough.
"Pretty much anything goes right now," Jourdain said. "This outbreak could get out of hand very quickly."
The Oak Creek Health Department reports there are currently 725 students under a quarantine directive. That's about 11% of the students in the district.
