Three-car Accident on Kearns Required Jaws of Life

Park City Police Department

A three-car accident at Kearns and Snow Creek Monday afternoon sent a 69-year-old Park City woman to the hospital. The crash happened around 2:30, right after junior high and high school got out.

Park City police said a silver Subaru was traveling west on Kearns Blvd toward Snow Creek Drive when it hit a yellow Nissan that was crossing Kearns on Snow Creek, sending the Nissan into a grey Dodge that was stopped at the intersection going the opposite direction on Snow Creek.

Park City Fire District battalion chief Max Dosher told KPCW that one victim was trapped in the Nissan and had to be extricated using the jaws of life from the opposite side of the car. Emergency services crews removed a car door and got her out.

Dosher said all the woman’s air bags deployed and she was wearing her seatbelt.

He did not have details on her condition but said that victims taken to Park City medical facilities as opposed to Salt Lake City hospitals generally don’t have life-threatening injuries.

The other drivers involved were a 15-year-old Park City girl and a 26-year-old man from Virginia Beach. Police said the 15-year-old was cited for traffic violations.
