MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — The body of a Florida woman reported missing in Myrtle Beach has been found, according to the Florence County Coroner's Office.
She has been identified as 21-year-old Sheridan Wahl, according to Coroner Keith von Lutcken.
The body was discovered Tuesday around 8:40 a.m. behind the Hanna-Salem Fire Department on Highway 378 in Pamplico, according to Lutcken.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), the Florence County Sheriff’s Office and the coroner’s office are investigating.
The Myrtle Beach Police Dept. originally opened an investigation on Sunday for Wahl, but discovered they did not have jurisdiction, according to a news release.
Police report Wahl came to visit her father in Myrtle Beach but never showed up.
Wahl was reportedly on Facetime with her mother around 1 p.m. in the 300 block of South Ocean Boulevard while trying to rent a scooter. She was refused service for not wearing shoes and told her mother she was returning home to Tampa, Florida, according to a report.
Reports said Wahl was told by her mother to stay the night to avoid a long drive home. Her family says they have not heard from her since and calls keep going to voicemail.
The investigation is ongoing.
