Kenton Citizen Threatens Lawsuit if Students are Required to Wear Masks in School

The Kenton City Schools Board of Education conducted the September regular meeting Monday evening.

Board members heard from a citizen who spoke out against requiring students to wear masks on buses and while in school.

Robert McKenzie stated that he is prepared to file a 672 page criminal lawsuit if students are required to wear them.

He cited health risks associated with the wearing of the masks for an extended time.

The Kenton-Hardin Health Department did issue a Mask Advisory for Hardin County, effective starting today that states everyone over the age of 2 years old is advised to wear a face mask, regardless of vaccination status, when they are in indoor public places and outdoors in crowded settings.

When asked about the Health Department’s advisory, Kenton Superintendent Chad Thrush told WKTN this morning that.”As with all other Hardin County schools, KCS continues to recommend but not mandate masks.”

The Board approved several personnel items that were on the agenda.

That included 6 supplemental contracts for employee positions and 7 supplemental contracts for non-employee assistant coaching positions.

The Board also approved a contract for Haley Garland as Kenton Middle School 7th grade Volleyball coach.

8 volunteer coaches for basketball and swimming were also approved.

The next regular Board of Education meeting has been scheduled for October 18.
