Two men were booked into the El Paso County Jail accused of stealing a car and fleeing from law enforcement.
El Paso County Deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Springdale Street and Lavina Street in El Paso on Monday in reference to a stolen vehicle, the El Paso County Sherriff's stated in a news release.
The stolen vehicle was spotted while deputies were patrolling near the 15500 block of Horizon Boulevard, the news release stated.
Deputies said that the suspects in the car, later identified as 23-year old Kevin Kelly and 22-year-old Anthony Ruiz, drove into the desert area and fled on foot.
Texas DPS Air Support and deputies from the Montana and Peter J. Herrera Patrol Stations eventually caught up with the suspects and arrested them.
Both Kelly and Ruiz were charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and evading arrest-detention.
A $12,000 bond was set for both men.
