One tragically killed in head-on collision in Jasper County

A head-on collision Monday afternoon near the Jasper County and Jones County line on Mississippi Highway 15 tragically claimed the life of a Laurel man and sent two others to a Jackson hospital by helicopter.

According to Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop H Public Affairs Officer Sgt. Jameka Moore, the accident occurred at 4:44 p.m.

“MHP received a Jasper County Sheriff’s Department report of a two-vehicle crash on MS 15 near County Road 8,” Sgt. Moore explained Tuesday in a release.

“Preliminary reports indicate that a 2012 Kia Forte driven by Loretha N. Keyes, 45, of Raleigh, Miss., was traveling north on MS 15. A 2018 Hyundai Elantra driven by Dajuana L. Pace-Anders, 21, of Stringer, Miss., was traveling south on MS 15. The Kia Forte and Hyundai Elantra collided head-on. Vincent Pruitt, 45, of Laurel, Miss., a passenger in the Kia Forte, received fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene. Loretha Keyes and a minor passenger of the Hyundai Elantra were both airlifted to UMC in Jackson. Dajuana Pace-Anders received no injuries from the crash.”

The crash is currently under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
