Brett Hage is an embarrassment to Sumter County

To the Editor:

The saying you “get what you voted for” is alive and well here in Sumter County. Florida’s famous “good old boy” network is also alive and well.
State Rep. Bret Hage has shown who he truly supports and it is not the taxpayers of Sumter County. Hage co-sponsored and voted for House Bill #337 (Impact Fees) which was signed into law by the Governor. Thanks to Hage, the “big government” House Bill #337’s law has become a monetary windfall for the Morse family who also is Hage’s employer.
In 2018, Hage’s campaign literature proudly stated that Hage was “against big government” and for “local government control.” Hage has willfully plunged into and consumed by the Morse family’ syndicate practices of “smoke and mirrors” directed toward the Sumter County residents. Hage’s hypocritical mind does not accept “the government that does best is the government closest to the people.”
Hage has taken advantage of the opportunities provided by the Morse family with little regard for principles.
One principle that reflects on Hage’s character is his strong feelings that a government is where “one person possesses unlimited” power. Hage’s autocracies is his refusal to appear before the taxpayers representatives and explain the details of House Bill #337 (Impact Fees) before becoming law. Hage has still not explained in person to the residents the final impact of House Bill #337.
