Coronation Street's Zeedan to face home truths over Geoff

Coronation Street's Zeedan Nazir faces some stern words from his sister Alya tonight (September 20) as she questions his long period of absence.

Zeedan returned to the cobbles last week and offered money to Alya (Sair Khan) after she was targeted by a scammer, who emptied the Speed Daal business accounts.

Despite this, Alya was left suspicious over Zeedan's behaviour and became convinced that he was hiding something, despite his claims to the contrary.

In Monday's double bill, Alya decides to bury her doubts and accept Zeedan's loan of £50,000.

Unfortunately, things soon turn sour when Zeedan crosses paths with Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) and rebukes him for betraying Alya.

Alya is unhappy over Zeedan's unwanted interference, pointing out that he was nowhere to be seen when their grandmother Yasmeen (Shelley King) was being put through hell by her abusive husband Geoff Metcalfe.

Changing her mind after the argument, Alya tells Zeedan to stuff his money.

Speaking about the Geoff situation, Qasim Akhtar – who plays Zeedan – recently explained: "Zeedan knows everything that has gone on, but I just don't think he has appreciated just how bad it was and how badly Yasmeen has been affected by it.

"He doesn't know the severity of the things that have happened. He has been very much caught up in his own life, trying to make a success of his life and his business.

"Zeedan is now starting to realise just how bad it has been for the family and he is reminded of that by Alya, who tells him he had no idea what it was like for them.

"He is told in no uncertain terms that he can't come throwing his weight around after everything they went through when he wasn't around."

Later in tonight's episodes, two thugs grab Zeedan outside Speed Daal and beat him up.

Despite some early suspicion that Ryan could have been responsible, Zeedan eventually tells his family that he's in trouble and this is why he was attacked.
