According to metrics used by the Illinois Department of Public Health, a handful of La Salle County schools are battling COVID-19 “outbreaks”.

An “outbreak” as defined by state health officials means that two or more students or staff of a particular school have tested positive for the virus and may have a shared exposure on school grounds and are from different households. The Leland School District recently had more than a dozen cases among staff and students according to the state's latest figures. Lincoln Junior High in La Salle meanwhile has 5-10 positive cases among students while L-P High School has less than 5 COVID-19 cases among students and staff. The source for all these schools of COVID-19 cases is shared classrooms.

No school districts in either Bureau or Putnam County are listed by the state as having current COVID-19 “outbreaks”.
