Authorities are investigating a social media threat made against a student who attends North Mahaska High School.
Mahaska County deputies were made aware of the situation 9:20 p.m. Monday.
Officers responded to the school and spoke with the student and the student’s parent. Investigators discovered the threat was made towards the student and the student’s high school via Snapchat. The threat was reportedly made when he or she refused to send inappropriate photos to the unknown sender.
Investigators traced the account. The user was not reported to be living in Mahaska County, nor in surrounding area.
There was an increased law enforcement presence at North Mahaska High School Tuesday morning as students and staff arrived.
The investigation into Monday’s threat is ongoing.
