The former Pacific Heights mansion of Charles “Kip” Thieriot, the great-grandson of the San Francisco Chronicle co-founder, is for sale for $14.2 million. Thieriot died of COVID in January at the age of 73.

Thieriot is the great-grandson of M.H. de Young, who with his brother Charles, founded the Chronicle in 1865. Thieriot was a member of the board of directors, which ran the family-owned paper before it was sold to the Hearst Corp. in 2000.

Thieriot’s former residence is a 7,675-square-foot Mediterranean-style home with six bedrooms and nine bathrooms. Classic meets modern in this bright home with bay views. The home features a wrought-iron staircase and an elevator, a skylit state-of-the art kitchen and a manicured garden with a loggia, among many other amenities.
