The Fugees Have Canceled Their Reunion Tour

In more tour cancellation news, it looks like The Fugees won't be reuniting this year. The group shared a statement on Jan. 21 announcing their decision to cancel the reunion tour in honor of their critically acclaimed album The Score due to COVID concerns. "We anticipate and understand disappointment but our anniversary tour will not be able to happen," the group wrote in a statement posted on Instagram.

The Fugees also noted that the tour was intended to honor the 25th anniversary of their final studio album, but it "may not currently be our time for revisiting this past work." "The continued COVID pandemic has made touring conditions difficult, and we want to make sure we keep our fans and ourselves healthy and safe." They concluded their post by saying, "If opportunity, public safety, and scheduling allow, we hope to be able to revisit this again sometime soon. Thank you for all your love and support throughout the years."

The hip-hop group — comprised of Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, and Pras Michel — announced their reunion tour on Sept. 21, and for the first time in 15 years, they hit the stage for a one-night-only show the following day in New York City as part of Global Citizen Live. The rest of the tour was set to commence in November, but on the first day of the month, they announced the tour had been postponed until early 2022 "to ensure the best chance that all cities on the tour are fully open."
