Manitowoc’s newest medical facility is opening its doors tomorrow.
The BayCare Clinic Lakeside Campus is located on the former Elks Club Property at 1111 Bayshore Drive with a perfect view of Lake Michigan.
We spoke with Chris Augustine, the CEO of BayCare Clinic, who explained why they wanted to build in Manitowoc.
“Manitowoc has always been a very important market for us,” Augustine said. “BayCare has partnered with Aurora…in that market…We have Physicians that are scattered around town. We have our orthopedic surgeons who are on 10th Street, we have an ophthalmologist on Expo, and then we have other specialists that are in the hospital, and we have oral surgeons that are on the Lakeshore.”
As far as what will be offered at the Manitowoc location, Augustine said that the Cardiology, EP, and EMT personnel will stay at their main hospital in Green Bay, while the oral surgeon will stay where they are in Manitowoc.
But they will have “Orthopedics and podiatry, neurosurgery, and pain management. The Ophthalmologists will move in six months after the other groups. Aurora is going to move their physical therapy services that are currently in the same area,” which will be on the second floor of the new clinic.
As far as staffing is concerned, Augustine said they have been fortunate to find people to man the front desk and other jobs like that, but a majority of their staff are being transplanted from their other locations.
He also said that they have big plans for the future, which will be discussed at their ribbon-cutting ceremony, which is scheduled to begin at 4:30 PM tomorrow.
