Heading to Disney World this week? Well, you might run into a few things that are closed for refurbishment depending on where you’re visiting.
Throughout the year, Disney schedules refurbishments at attractions, shops, and resorts. The purpose for these can range from routine touch-ups or needed maintenance all the way to completely reimagining a space and we’ve got a little bit of both this week. So, let’s take a look at everything that will be closed from September 20th to September 26th, 2021 in Disney World!
Magic Kingdom Refurbishments
Walt Disney World Railroad
The Walt Disney World Railroad is known for giving guests a unique tour of the Magic Kingdom as it travels around the park through Frontierland, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland. But, it’s been closed for over two years due to construction over at TRON: Lightcycle Run (which is blocking a portion of the track).
And, the closure is set to continue through the next week, with no projection on when the attraction could reopen just yet.

Main Street Confectionery
Over on Main Street, U.S.A., the Main Street Confectionery will remain closed this week as well. Disney has been working to “reimagine” the space since March and, while we did see the construction walls come down around the exterior, the shop has yet to reopen.
For now, guests can find many of the same treats in their new temporary home at the Main Street Cinema.

Disney World Resort Refurbishments
A few weeks ago, the monorail station and main entrance reopened at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort (after a LONG closure). And, with work done at one resort, more continues at others. Over at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, the rooms in the main tower remain closed as they receive a new Incredibles-themed look…
…and in the main lobby area, work is continuing at the former location of The Wave…of American Flavors. Once complete, the restaurant will reopen with a brand new name, look, and theme for the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary.
Disney is also updating the guest arrival process at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort (which has resulted in the closure of the port cochere and the main lobby area)…
…and at Disney’s Old Key West Resort (resulting in the alternating closure of the den and lobby).
So, be sure to keep these scheduled closures in mind when you’re visiting Disney World this week. And, you never know when something may suddenly reopen or unexpectedly close in the parks, so be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for the latest!
