The planned Amazon distribution facility in Bath will take longer than expected to complete.

Councilman John Lysyczyn said at an August town planning board meeting the Amazon project is behind schedule, citing concerns raised by the Department of Transportation and the facility would "likely" not be operational by fall as planned.

Jamie Johnson, Executive Director of the Steuben County Industrial Development Agency, confirmed the company is working through traffic concerns with DOT, mainly the potential need for a turning lane to support traffic for the Amazon facility as well as future development.

The former Mercury Aircraft factory, the planned site for the Amazon facility, also needs a facelift.

Amazon in Bath? Billion-dollar company, town officials weighing planned facility

The SCIDA approved up to $100,000 for infrastructure improvements on State Route 54 at Industrial Park Road in Bath in September.

In Feburary, the planning board said Amazon would lease approximately 77,000 square feet at the former factory for an "Amazon distribution center."

"It has the initial potential for 200-250 jobs for the Town of Bath community," Town of Bath Supervisor Ron Smith said in February. "Jobs with benefits, which is huge for our community."

Amazon has two job postings for the Bath facility on its website. One for an IT Support Engineer and another for Delivery Operations.

Both jobs are under the umbrella of the "Amazon Logistics" team, which might be an indication of the type of facility coming to the 77,000 square feet facility.

"Amazon logistics are At Amazon Logistics (AMZL), our goal is to provide customers with an incredible package delivery experience through the last mile of the order. To achieve this goal, we partner with a network of small independent delivery businesses (Delivery Service Providers) and the independent contractor community (Amazon Flex) to deliver customer orders."
