Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street's Asha Alahan will have her heart broken by Nina Lucas all over again next week, when Nina makes it clear that she only sees Asha as a friend.

Asha (Tanisha Gorey) and Nina's (Mollie Gallagher) close friendship turned to romance earlier this year, but after they split Asha got back together with her nasty ex Corey Brent (Maximus Evans), while Nina found love with Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni).

Following the horrific hate crime in the spring which saw Seb killed by Corey – a crime which Corey was recently found innocent of committing – Nina has been struggling with her emotions, while Asha has done everything she can to help Nina, including selling her laptop to help raise funds for Seb's memorial garden.

In scenes to air next week, Asha enthuses about her studies while in the café. Roy Cropper (David Neilson), struck by Asha's excitement about her work, encourages Nina to seek an outlet for her own creative talents.

Nina approaches Carla Barlow (Alison King) about the possibility of resuming the design work she had been doing for Underworld, but is left disappointed when she learns that she has been replaced.

Roy suggests to Nina that she go back to college to do a fashion course and, soon enough, Nina is telling Asha that she is hoping to begin studying Fashion at Weatherfield College.

When Nina asks Asha if she will model some samples so that Nina can take photos to use at her interview, Asha is thrilled. Roy is pleased to see Nina and Asha getting on so well, but Nina warns him not to read anything into it.

Later in the week, Nina is a bundle of nerves as she prepares for her college interview. She clumsily reminds Asha that she sees her purely as a friend and Asha is quick to assert that she's completely happy with how things worked out between them, despite the fact that she admitted in court that she was still in love with Nina.

Asha's brother Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain) is shocked when Asha bursts into tears in front of him and reveals that she is devastated that Nina doesn't want her.

Aadi suggests that she could find somebody else to date, but whether Asha will be able to get over Nina so easily is another question.

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Monday, September 27, Wednesday, September 29 and Friday, October 1 at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
