Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street's Kelly Neelan will face more trauma in upcoming scenes as she is set upon by a group of thugs.

Kelly (Millie Gibson) is currently in prison on our screens, having been wrongfully convicted of murdering Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni), while the real killer Corey Brent (Maximus Evans) was found innocent.

However, in new paparazzi photos, actress Millie and her co-star Mollie Gallagher, who plays Nina Lucas, have been spotted filming dramatic new scenes on location near the cobbles.

In the upcoming scenes, Kelly will be seen in a drunken state as she walks the streets near Weatherfield. She will then be approached by a group of yobs who accost her and threaten her, with one even pouring a can of beer over her head.

She will soon receive help from an unexpected source, as Nina appears and shouts at the thugs to leave Kelly alone.

As Kelly is currently behind bars on screen, it is not yet clear why she is out of jail in these new scenes, although her lawyer Imran Habeeb (Charlie de Melo) has been planning to launch an appeal to free her, so it is possible that this could go ahead.

Another question fans may have is whether the thugs who target Kelly are connected to Corey in some way and whether he may have anything to do with the attack.

The scenes should also give fans an insight into Nina's attitude towards Kelly following Kelly's involvement in the hate crime which ended in Seb's death and Nina's serious injuries.

Before these scenes air, Kelly will return to court to hear her sentence. Imran implores the judge to consider Kelly's troubled upbringing and her fragile mental health when deciding on a sentence, particularly as Kelly tried to take her own life on the night of the verdict.

What turn will events take before Kelly ends up being attacked in the streets?

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
